Remit are a well-established training provider operating throughout England, Scotland and Wales and have a great reputation for providing high quality apprenticeship programmes. We are currently working with almost 7,000 apprentices and have vacancies for many more. Remit apprenticeships will offer your son/daughter the highest level of training from assessors and tutors with years of industry and training experience. We will make every effort to ensure you son/daughter is supported through their training programme and that they will successfully complete their apprenticeship.

 

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is work based vocational training funded by the Skills Funding Agency, Skills for Scotland and the Welsh Assembly Government. There is no cost to the young person (aged 16-23) when undertaking an apprenticeship, but the employer may be required to contribute a training fee if the young person begins the apprenticeship after their 19th birthday.

Learners will be based in their place of employment where they will be fully employed. Training will be normally be through day or block release programmes with the apprentice attending a local college or one of Remits training academies. Some apprenticeship will be delivered solely in the workplace through assessor teaching and learning. The apprentices will always be supported by a Remit assessor who will visit the work placement every 4-8 weeks throughout the apprenticeship programme.

Apprentices will be entitled to the minimum apprenticeship salary of £3.40 an hour, some employers choose to pay more than this and some increase salary over time, as the apprentice learns more and is able to contribute more to the business. All apprentices are required to work fulltime.

What will Remit do for my son/daughter?

Once your son/daughter has registered their interest through our website we will contact them to let them know about vacancies within their area, as they become available. If your son/daughter is interested in any of the apprenticeship vacancies we contact them about, we will arrange interviews with the employer for them. At this point your son/daughter will attend a face to face interview with the employer.
If the interview is successful Remit will enrol your son/daughter onto the programme and arrange for their training to begin. If they are unsuccessful at interview stage, we will continue to look for other suitable employers for them, until we are able to find them something or until they find an alternative.

 

How does apprenticeship training work with Remit?

On some of our apprenticeship programmes there will be a requirement for you son/daughter to attend college one day a week. The college they attend will be one of our partner colleges and will be as local as possible to the learner to avoid lengthy journeys. Remit will also visit your son/daughter regularly at the work place to assess and monitor their progress.

During the rest of the programme your son/daughter will remain in the work placement where they will gain experience from seeing and getting involved in the daily running of the business.

Some of our qualifications are delivered purely within the work placement through visits from a Remit assessor. As your son/daughter learns more through their theory training they will be able to participate in tasks and as they progress through their qualification they will be able to complete tasks on their own.

How long will the apprenticeship last?

The length of the apprenticeship will depend on the type of qualification. IT apprenticeships usually take a year to complete. An automotive, business admin, customer service and food & hospitality qualification will take between 2 and 3 years to complete.

 

What qualifications will my son/daughter achieve?

Once the programme is complete your son/daughter will gain an NVQ/VCQ level 2 and/or 3 depending on the specialism they have undertaken.

 

My son/daughter has a learning difficulty, will they receive any support?

Yes, Remit has a dedicated additional support team who will visit you son/daughter at their work placement regularly to assist them with their work.

 

What grades will my son/daughter need to complete an apprenticeship?

This will depend on the industry and the requirements from each employer. The IT programme requires that the learners have A-C in English and Maths at G.C.S.E level. For our other programmes, qualification requirements will depend on the requests of each employer.

We are able to place young people onto apprenticeship programmes who have low academic qualifications but have a real desire to work and learn. Upon initial contact with a Remit recruitment advisor, we will ask applicants to complete an assessment test. This will allow us to understand the level each individual is working to and identify ways in which we are able to support them through an apprenticeship programme.

Any apprentices that do not have C or above at G.C.S.E level in English, Maths and IT will have to complete Functional/Key/Core skills. This is an apprenticeship framework requirement to enable learners to achieve their qualification.

 

Who do Remit work with?

Remit provide apprenticeship training for a wide range of companies. This includes small independent companies, franchise dealerships and large corporate companies. The standard of training does not differ depending on the employed apprenticeship base. We believe working with a variety of businesses in this way allows us to have suitable positions for a wide range of aspiring apprentices.
