MVS Auto Service & Repair celebrates new facility and apprenticeships!October 10, 2016
An independent automotive service and repair centre celebrated the opening of its new facility and the benefits of an Apprenticeship programme thanks to support from national training provider, Remit Training.
Ilkeston-based MVS Auto Service and Repair is celebrating six years in business with the opening of its new facility and is supporting its business growth with apprentices.
The family run business is passionate about the quality of work it offers customers and when it had a new class seven MOT bay installed this year, the business decided to recruit an apprentice that could be trained to their very high standards and offer customers the high level of service they expect.
Jacquie Carrington, the Finance Business Partner, explains, “As we grew, we needed someone else and wanted to train an apprentice who left school at 16, who was a blank canvas to train them the way we wanted.”
“And as 90% of our business is from referrals, we also wanted a qualification that would give the customers the confidence that our staff were well qualified. At the end of the day, we won’t have a business without customers.”
MVS found its apprentice, Brandon Hall (16), the son of its senior technician and it wasn’t long before the firm’s confidence was confirmed in his attitude and commitment.
Brandon Hall (16), is undertaking his Light Vehicle Technician Level 2 Apprenticeship with MVS, supported by Remit Training.
Jacquie continues, “We chose Remit Training because they were local and we had heard of them. There is no doubt Brandon will be one of the best. The minute we knew he was interested we were delighted. He has been with us a month; he has been fabulous – we couldn’t wish for anybody better.”
Brandon joined MVS straight from school, “I really like working on the cars and the Apprenticeship is so much better than going to college for two years without getting a job. I do go to college to learn some things but it is while I am working, which is great.”
MVS celebrated with 200 customers, enjoying hospitality, food and a presentation of the MOT bay installation.
