Beatrice Morgan has been on the National Express customer service apprenticeship programme. She has been going from strength to strength during the programme and is looking to work her way up and develop her career with National Express.
How long have you been on your apprenticeship?
Did Remit help you to find a placement/employer?
Yes, I originally applied for another position but one of the advisors contacted me directly about this position.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I am a hands on person and I like to learn through working with people rather than a classroom environment. Apprenticeships were a way for me to do this, I also liked the idea of earning money while getting my qualifications.
Did you consider going to College / University? If yes, why did you change your mind?
I did consider it, but I decided quickly that it wasn’t for me I prefer a hands on learning and training in a company was right for me.
Why did you choose to work in customer service?
I am an outgoing, confident person and I enjoy putting myself in someone shoes to help them. I though working in customer services would be perfect for me.
What is the best thing you have learnt whilst on your programme?
To put myself in other peoples shoes to understand what they need and to empathise with them.
How has your new skills / knowledge helped you in your job role?
The skills I have learnt while doing my functional skills have helped me when using the systems at work and the people skills I have gained are helping me support the customer’s needs.
What are your career ambitions?
I would like to stay within one company and work my way up from the bottom.
How has your apprenticeship made an impact on you personally? i.e. confidence
It has helped build my confidence more. It has given me the ability to socialise and enjoy myself from earning money whilst training.
