Remit brings national training facility to Derby!August 18, 2017
Remit Group are thrilled to announce the opening of a brand new Automotive Academy in Derby this September.
The launch of the Automotive Academy will bring hundreds of our automotive apprentices to the city. Permission is being sought from the council to change the use of the building in Derby to a teaching facility, with workshops and classrooms for both light and heavy vehicle technicians, as well as paint, body repair and parts students.
Chief Executive, Sue Pittock, says the Group chose Derby for many reasons. “We’re really excited to be setting up our brand new Automotive Academy in Derby. As an East Midlands-based business ourselves, we are committed to supporting the economic growth of the region, and supporting its ambitions as part of the Midlands Engine.
“The automotive industry has produced some of the world’s finest engineers, and we aim to continue this aspiration through Remit’s Automotive Academy. Positioning ourselves in Derby enables us to build on the city’s strength in engineering, both historically and in the present day.
“Being the most central city in England, with excellent transport links, is another huge benefit to basing the Academy in Derby. Our young people travel from all over the UK, staying with us on block release for a week, so it’s important the facility is as easily accessible to all other regions as possible.”
The new Academy will include three workshops, one for heavy vehicle training, another for light vehicle technicians, a vehicle paint booth – supported with vehicle body repair – as well as excellent classroom and learning spaces, a break out room and space for hire to local businesses looking for classroom or meeting facilities.
We work with our apprentices taking them through their Level 2 and Level 3 technical training, supporting them with extra tuition for numeracy and literacy, as well as providing social support as and when required. We also support employers to establish apprenticeship schemes, from recruitment to completion.
The team looks forward to welcoming its first group of apprentices to the Academy in September.
