There is little doubt that there is a huge gender disparity in the automotive sector, with statistics showing that just 7.3% of those employed in automotive engineering are women. There are many reasons as to why there are more men within the automotive sector, from fears of potential discriminative behaviour to the lack of guidance and a lack of awareness and/or support through the school system.
Remit Group want to help inspire women who want a career in the automotive industry by encouraging and supporting them to choose a career path they want to follow. We’re doing this by highlighting a selection of our apprentices who are trailblazing their own paths.
We’re calling the campaign “Start Being a Girl”.
Start Being a Girl, originated from the idea that throughout many people’s lives they have grown up with this misconception that ‘acting like a girl’ is be a negative thing -due to often disparaging nature in which it is said. “Oh, stop being such a girl”.
Well, it’s time for a change, it’s 2018 and we want to promote our wonderful learners, who are bucking the trend and have decided it is time to start being who they want to be. We’re proud of them all and want to encourage everyone to start being a girl.
